Skai TV to appeal to Council of Europe over union action
Skai TV said on Wednesday that it is planning to appeal to the Council of Europe after the ESIEA journalists’ union called nine presenters, including three from Skai, before a disciplinary panel for questioning about their coverage ahead of Sunday’s referendum and whether they breached journalistic ethics.
In a statement, Skai suggested this was an attempt to “terrorize” the media and to ensure that differing views from those of the coalition are not heard.
SYRIZA and Independent Greeks refused to send representatives to appear on Skai TV on the night of the referendum as the parties felt the station’s coverage was biased.
A first instance prosecutor has also launched a separate investigation into media coverage ahead of the referendum.
