Polls delay Haikalis, Mitropoulos probes
The parliamentary committee responsible for checking for any financial irregularities by MPs decided Tuesday to put off the probes into Independent Greeks lawmaker Pavlos Haikalis and SYRIZA’s Alexis Mitropoulos until after the elections.
Haikalis appeared before the committee Tuesday to answer questions about his alleged involvement in an offshore firm, which is against the rules for MPs.
Haikalis submitted a number of documents that he claims show he did not break the law.
However, the committee decided that further clarification is needed.
Mitropoulos, who also denies allegations of tax evasion, is due to be questioned once the snap polls have taken place too.
