Governor calls for Peloponnese town to be declared in state of emergency

The regional governor of the Peloponnese, Petros Tatoulis, called for the town of Skala in Laconia to be declared in a state of emergency after suffering serious damage following heavy rain and a tornado on Monday morning.

The bad weather damaged dozens of businesses and homes, as well as roads.

Tatoulis called on the government to send prefabricated buildings for local residents who have been left homeless and funding so repairs can get under way.
