Self-employed, farmers protest govt’s proposals on pension reform

Scientists, doctors, lawyers, pharmacists, engineers and notaries were among professionals rallying in central Athens on Thursday, in protest to the government’s draft bill regarding reforms in the country’s pension system.

Meanwhile, ferries remained docked at ports across the country on the second day of a 48-hour strike called by the Panhellenic Seamen's Union (PNO).

Also on Thursday, farmers in Malgara, near the northern port city of Thessaloniki, blocked access to the national highway.

Farmers in Larissa in central Greece, were expected to hold a blockade by trucks at the Vale of Tempe junction from noon to 2 p.m. on Friday.
