Athens doctors to walk off job on Thursday

The Athens Medical Association (ISA) said on Tuesday that its members will take part in Thursday’s work stoppage to protest the government’s proposed changes to the pension system.

Doctors will walk off the job between 11 a.m. and 3 p.m. and ISA has called on them to take part in a demonstration in central Athens during the stoppage.

Another protest is being organized for 11.30 a.m. on Monday outside the Labor Ministry.

Meanwhile, the National Confederation of Greek Commerce (ESEE), which represents retailers, on Tuesday urged its members to take part in the general strike called by public and private sector unions for February 4 to protest the planned pension reforms.
