Employees of Greek electronic appliances chain Elektroniki Athinon, which filed for bankruptcy last month, stand outside the Labor Ministry in Athens Thursday during a protest. The company, which employed 450 employees in 45 outlets across the country, cited the state of the local economy, the weakening of Greek consumers’ purchasing power and the imposition of capital controls on Greek banks last year as the main reasons for its insolvency. Elektroniki, which was founded in 1950, has said workers will receive compensation in about seven months’ time.
