Rapper’s killer was ‘trained,’ court told

TAGS: GD trial

A witness at the trial of the neo-Nazi Golden Dawn party said in court in Athens Thursday that the fatal injuries sustained by rapper Pavlos Fyssas in 2013 were dealt by someone who appeared to have undergone training.

Dimitris Hatzistamatis, a Korydallos prison guard who witnessed the attack outside a cafeteria in Keratsini near Piraeus, also claimed the attack was premeditated.

Fyssas’s killer, Giorgos Roupakias, who has confessed to the stabbing, is one of 18 defendants implicated in the murder.

A total of 68 Golden Dawn members, including the party’s leadership, face charges of running a criminal organization, as well as extortion and attempted murder.

All were released from custody after completing 18 months in pretrial detention and are currently under house arrest.
