Mycenaean-era krater makes debut

Restorer Maria Kontakis places the Mycenaean-era Silver Krater of the Battle in a case at the National Archaeological Museum in Athens, on Monday. This is the first time since its discovery 140 years ago that the splendid 12th century BC artifact showing a battle scene is put on public display, along with one of the gold cups found inside it. They will be on show until September 25. [Alexandros Vlachos/EPA]
