Government to resume talks on reforms with technical teams

TAGS: Economy, Diplomacy

Talks were to resume on Monday with technical staff representing Greece's creditors and negotiations with the chiefs of mission due to start on Tuesday or Wednesday.

The aim is to reach a staff level agreement by December 5 when euro zone finance ministers are set to meet to discuss Greece's progress with reforms and where, Greece hopes, decisions will be taken regarding relief of its debt burden.

The key talking points are the budget for 2017, a new mid-term program which precludes an agreement on how to fund Greece's social solidarity income for poorer Greeks and the primary surplus targets after 2019.

Changes to labor laws will also be discussed with a focus on collective labor contracts and mass firings.

Privatization is on the agenda too with the organization of the new fund for state officials to be discussed along with the state bodies that are slated for sale or lease.
