Judges’ unions postpone action in wake of murder

TAGS: Justice, Crime

A planned protest Saturday by seven judges’ unions has been postponed until October 23 in a show of respect for Michalis Zafeiropoulos, the prominent Athens lawyer who was murdered in his office on Thursday night.

The seven judges’ unions had joined forces to protest new salary cuts which would arise from a special salary structure for certain civil servants, arguing that they play a key role in ensuring the function of democracy and should not be subject to the same austerity measures as other public servants.
