Veteran tries a new art

Most people have sung lyrics written by Manos Eleftheriou, but last year the writer pleasantly surprised his fans by making a transition into writing and produced an historical novel. «The Age of Chrysanthemums» met with great success, and from last March, when it made its first appearance at bookstores, to this day, it has sold 36,000 copies. Eleftheriou chose to place the action of his novel in his favorite city, Ermoupolis, the capital of Syros, and using his detailed knowledge on the field described in his own way Ermoupolis’s upper-middle class and lower class in the 19th century, the city’s theater and art scene. Eleftheriou masters the art of writing, without letting his age get in the way of experimenting with different writing styles. For that very reason, Eleftheriou is one of the people who caused a stir in Greek literature over the past year.
