POS everywhere from April 1

All professionals belonging to the 35 branches of the Greek economy in which card terminals (POS) were not mandatory until now, have a deadline of 24 days to activate them.

These are the last sectors remaining that do not have terminals to take card payments, but that is changing from April 1. These include open-air markets and outdoor traders, kiosks, convenience stores and mini-markets, taxis, brokers, advertising agencies and public relations agencies, as well as theaters and cinemas.

By law, they should have already ordered a POS (the order deadline was until February 29), while if they have applied for the supply but the installation is pending, then they have till March 31. Based on the above, citizens will be able to pay in public markets by card, even with IRIS. For vendors who refuse, the fine amounts to 1,500 euros. In the last nine days (when the fourth round of funding opened to cover part of the cost of purchasing POS and interface with the cash register) 78,604 applications have been submitted.

The subsidy is in the form of a voucher and beneficiaries have the option to use it at approved suppliers of the digital transactions program of the National Economy and Finance and Digital Governance ministries.
