Greece seen as the tourism destination for 2013
This could be considered the year of Greek tourism, Austrian newspaper Der Standard forecast on Monday after the end of the Ferien-Messe Wien 2013, Vienna’s annual tourism trade show that took place from Thursday to Sunday last week and hosted more than 150,000 industry professionals.
Walter Krahl, the director of one of Austria’s biggest tourism corporations, Verkehrsbuero, told the Vienna daily that there is great interest in all the classic summer destinations and particularly Greece.
There is greater focus on the Peloponnese and the islands that are close to the main port of Piraeus. Der Standard added that tourists are gradually regaining confidence in Greece, while the country is recovering its reputation as a holiday destination and worries about a eurozone exit are fading.
