No political will for linkup of registers with Taxisnet
The law has been in place since late 2016, the online platform is ready to receive the data, but what is missing is the political will to make the decision that will result in the linkup of the tills at enterprises with the Finance Ministry’s Taxisnet.
Sources say that the ministry’s political leadership has put off the online link until a later date – and definitely after 2018 – following the constant pressure to that effect by various professional groups since 2011.
Tax administration officials assure Kathimerini that the gradual implementation of the measure could start immediately, stressing that this could go a long way toward combating value-added tax evasion and facilitating tax inspections and cross-checking.
The system would also help considerably in terms of offering the ministry a good idea about the VAT revenues it can expect per company and professional category.
