Ministers meet with DT chief

Transport Minister Costis Hatzidakis (left), Deutsche Telekom (DT) Chief Executive Rene Oberman (center) and National Economy and Finance Minister Giorgos Alogoskoufis (right) met yesterday on future plans for OTE telecom. Issues relating to market regulations and plans to set up a fiberoptic network, reaching all households in the country, were among the issues discussed. Deutsche Telekom, Europe’s biggest telephone company, has agreed to take a 25 percent stake in OTE plus control of the phone company in a deal to be completed later this year. Meanwhile, the Capital Market Commission ruled that Deutsche Telekom is not obligated to make a public offer for the acquisition of the remaining OTE shares it has not purchased.
