OTE picks ODG for TV service

The UK-based On Demand Group (ODG) said yesterday it will provide video-on-demand solutions to OTE telecom as part of the Greek company’s plans to expand its services. «OTE… has plans to extend its service offering and roll out IPTV services to its customer base,» ODG, a subsidiary of Nasdaq-listed Seachange International, said in a statement. IPTV (Internet Protocol Television) is television content that is received by the viewer through technologies used for computer networks rather than being delivered via traditional broadcast and cable formats. No financial details on the agreement were given. OTE, which has a market capitalization of about 7.3 billion euros, is Greece’s former state telecoms monopoly. It holds the largest share of broadband Internet connections in Greece, with over 700,000 customers.
