Prices top growth on anxiety list
National Economy and Finance Minister Giorgos Alogoskoufis speaks to the press yesterday after a Cabinet meeting. The minister briefed his peers on talks that took place at an ECOFIN meeting earlier this week. He said adverse international economic conditions will have a negative impact on Greece but the economy will continue to show solid growth rates in comparison with other countries. ‘Where we have the problem is with inflation. It is a problem that affects everyone but harms us significantly,’ he told reporters. Inflation in June was at 4.9 percent year-on-year, unchanged from May. Economists see it exceeding the 5 percent mark this month.
