Wine diplomacy starts to pay off

In spring 2024, the prestigious VieVinum International wine festival will take place at the Hofburg Palace in Vienna, where over 600 major wineries from around the world will showcase their products from May 25 to 27. Greece will be the honored country of the event. Wine diplomacy proves successful when executed strategically and with precision. Michelin-starred sommeliers visited Crete and Samos in June, and made a similar trip to northern Greece, the Peloponnese, and Santorini last August. These efforts to promote Greek wines are not new, as Greek winemakers have been diligently working for many years, and their dedication has shown promising results, especially since the early years of the last decade amidst the economic crisis.
