Fire breaks out in Karpathos

A blaze broke out late Friday night in a forested area on the island of Karpathos, in the southeastern Aegean Sea, the fire service said.
An initial contingency of 31 firemen was boosted to 54 firefighters with 10 vehicles, 2 aircraft and 3 helicopters as the blaze spread.
No settlements were at risk.
