Deep tremor strucks at sea in southeastern Greece

A 4.8-magnitude earthquake struck overnight southwest of the island of Karpathos, in the southeastern Aegean Sea, the Athens-based Institute of Geodynamics said.

The earthquake occurred at 2.24 p.m. local at an estimated depth of 51.1 kilometers, 21 kilometres off the island, the institute announced.

There have been no reports of damages.
