Fire breaks out near Markopoulo in Attica

The Hellenic Fire Service is tackling a fire that broke out near the town of Markopoulo in Attica, close to the Athens International Airport, on Thursday. According to information released by the fire service, the blaze is burning through shrubland.
There are currently 25 firefighters on scene, with 11 vehicles. They are also being assisted by a force of volunteer firefighters.
