Civil servants arrested on bribery charges in Halkidiki

Two high-ranking civil servants and a third man were arrested on bribery charges in Halkidiki, northern Greece, on Monday.

According to reports, the 50-year-old head of the Municipality of Aristoteli’s technical services department and the health department chief of the Halkidiki Regional Authority, aged 46, were arrested during a sting operation after demanding 700 euros from the owner of an eatery so they could expedite his application for an operating license.

A third man, aged 65, has also been arrested on charges that he organized the meeting between the businessman and the two officials for a fee of 100 euros.
