Opposition SYRIZA sees ‘vindication’ in IMF admission of errors

A few days after the International Monetary Fund admitted to major missteps over in its handling of Greece’s first bailout, leftist SYRIZA leader Alexis Tsipras attacked conservative Prime Minister Antonis Samaras for pursuing austerity policies imposed by international creditors.

“Although [Greece’s] lenders admit the program’s flaws, the premier’s insistence on implementing the catastrophic memorandum shows that he is out of touch with reality,” the anti-bailout party said in a statement Saturday.

It added that recent developments are a “vindication for SYRIZA.”

“Samaras’s talk of ‘success story’ has become the briefest joke,” the party said.
