Policeman charged for harboring fuel thief

A 25-year-old policeman from Athens was charged on Wednesday with harboring a criminal after being caught helping a friend who had allegedly attempted to steal fuel from a motorcycle in the Nea Smyrni neighborhood.

The owner of the motorbike saw the alleged fuel thief, aged 29, and chased him away.

However, according to police, the robber had left his father?s car at the scene so he called the policeman, who was his friend, to help him collect it.

The 25-year-old drove him there in his patrol car, where police were waiting to arrest both men.
