More than 1,000 people face legal action over farming pensions

The details of more than 1,000 people who may have been claiming farmers? pensions illegally has been forwarded to a prosecutor by the Labor Ministry.

The CD containing 1,014 names has been sent to the Supreme Court prosecutor?s office, which will begin legal proceedings to recover the money, with interest, should it be confirmed that the were wrongly claiming pensions from the Agricultural Insurance Organization (OGA).

The people on the list supplied by the Labor Ministry failed to take part in a census of OGA pensioners carried out last year.

A similar census by the country?s main pension fund, IKA, found some 7,500 people who may have been claiming retirement pay illegally.
