Rehhagel to visit Greece as Merkel special envoy
Otto Rehhagel has been enlisted by German Chancellor Angela Merkel to act as a special envoy to Greece during a three-day visit to Athens, Germany’s Bild reported. The move is seen as an effort by the German Chancellor to boost Greek morale, strengthen Greek-German relations and attract more Germans to visit Greece.
Rehhagel’s visit is expected to take place by the end of March and will include meetings with Greek President Karolos Papoulias and Prime Minister Antonis Samaras.
The former Greece coach led the national team to win the 2004 Euro trophy.
