Clean-up of Tripoli trash pile gets under way
After tons of garbage piled up on the streets of the Peloponnesian town of Tripoli for two months, public sanitation workers began the massive task of removing it to a dump in western Attica on Friday.
The trash began to build up following the closure of an illegal landfill in the vicinity that served as the only available facility and a delay in a deal being signed between Tripoli and Attica authorities.
