Police officer in central Athens caught receiving blackmail money

A police officer is facing charges of blackmail after being caught receiving 950 euros in marked bills from an Iraqi man, aged 35, in the central Athens neighborhood of Aghios Panteleimonas on Wednesday.

The 28-year-old officer allegedly told the Iraqi man to pay him 2,000 euros to expunge a criminal charge that the policeman claimed was pending against him.
