Border guards in northern Greece make illegal weapons bust

Border guards in northeastern Greece have stopped a truck carrying 281 sights for Kalashnikov assault rifles and anti-tank weapons, it was revealed on Friday.

The vehicle was stopped at the Kipoi border crossing in Evros.

It was being driven by a Belgian national of Syrian origin.

The 30-year-old claimed the truck had been left at Turkish customs by friends and that he had been asked to return the vehicle to its owner.
