Two held over death of 80-year-old cafe owner in Messinia

A 51-year-old woman alleged to have fatally injured the 80-year-old owner of a cafe at Kokkino in Messinia, southwestern Greece, after the latter refused to give her a packet of cigarettes was detained on Wednesday along with her 49-year-old boyfriend.

The incident occurred on Tuesday afternoon following an argument between the women which culminated in the 51-year-old shoving the cafe owner, who sustained fatal injuries in her fall.

The 51-year-old fled with her boyfriend, whom she telephoned after the spat.

They were both found on Wednesday and the 49-year-old was charged with failing to aid the cafe owner.
