Patriarch of Moscow to meet PM, president on way to Mt. Athos

The Orthodox Patriarch of Moscow Kirill, who is travelling to the monastic community of Mount Athos, was to meet with Prime Minister Antonis Samaras and President Karolos Papoulias in Athens on Monday.

The patriarch, the first primate of the Russian Orthodox Church to visit Greece in an official capacity in more than 20 years, is scheduled to meet Papoulias first at 12.30 p.m. and directly afterward meet with the premier.

Kirill, who on Sunday performed a common liturgy at the Church of Saint Panteleimonas in central Athens, was to depart for Mount Athos later on Monday.
