Man undergoes successful heart transplant operation at Onassis medical center
A 41-year-old man who had been waiting for a heart transplant for 10 months underwent a successful operation at the Onassis Cardiac Surgery Center after receiving a heart from a 19-year-old man who died at the Ippocrateio Hospital in Thessaloniki.
The operation was the fifth successful transplant that took place at the Onassis center this year.
It has carried out 116 over the past 20 years.
At the moment, there are 27 patients in Greece waiting for heart transplants.
