New batch of hirings for interim public broadcaster
The government announced the second batch of hirings for the interim public broadcaster to be formed following ERT’s closure in June.
A total of 1,453 positions were advertised on the government’s online Diavgeia system. Previously, 589 places were announced. ERT had some 2,700 employees. Most of them have continued to broadcast from the service’s headquarters in Aghia Paraskevi, northern Athens.
They issued a statement on Friday suggesting that the idea of an interim broadcaster was only being used by the government so it could wrestle back control of ERT’s facilities.
