Government says it has received 8,000 applications for jobs at interim public TV
More than 8,000 people have reportedly applied for some 2,000 positions at the interim public broadcaster that will take over from ERT until a permanent service is set up.
Deputy Culture Minister Pantelis Kapsis, who is overseeing the process, said that about 80 percent of the staff at the interim broadcaster would be fired ERT employees.
He said that some 1,000 ERT staff have applied for jobs at the interim service.
Kapsis added that the TV service would begin broadcasting live programs in the next two weeks but would not assume a normal service until ERT’s headquarters are vacated by protesting employees.
