Greek post office celebrates 185 years of services
This week Hellenic Post (ELTA) is celebrating 185 years since Ioannis Capodistrias, Greece’s first governor, signed the service into existence.
“The Greek postal service is closely identified with the formation of the Greek state and has become an inseparable part of Greek society,” said ELTA CEO and managing director Costis Melachrinos, who added that the post office continued to provide a valuable service “at a time when Greek society is being tested.”
