Deputy minister accused of tax office, SDOE appointments

A case file put together following a suit against Deputy Finance Minister Giorgos Mavraganis was forwarded to Parliament on Tuesday.

The association of tax office employees in western Maceodonia has accused Mavraganis of illegally transferring or appointing 165 senior officials to the Financial Crimes Squad (SDOE) and tax offices.

Mavraganis is not an MP so Parliament does not have to decide whether the allegations merit having his immunity lifted but lawmakers still have to rule on whether he should be prosecuted.

The suit was filed in December 2012 and was forwarded to Parliament by the Supreme Court.
