Statistics from Greek police point to big drop in crime

Crimes recorded in the first 10 months of this year pointed to a considerable slump compared to the same period last year, according to official police statistics released on Wednesday.

Specifically, there were 11,933 fewer burglaries, 838 fewer robberies and 1,433 fewer car thefts between January and the end of October this year compared to the same period in 2012.

The number of armed holdups of security firm employees fell by 83.3 percent and on mailmen by 63.3 percent, according to the statistics.
