Golden Dawn MPs’ hearing delayed to Dec 7 as party calls for Athens rally

Golden Dawn has invited its supporters to take part in a rally in central Athens on Saturday evening to demand the release from pre-trial custody of its leader Nikos Michaloliakos.

Party spokesman Ilias Kasidiaris said the Neo-Nazi group plans to gather in Syntagma Square at 7 p.m. before marching towards the Justice Ministry.

He was speaking after three of the party’s MPs, Giorgos Germenis, Panayiotis Iliopoulos and Stathis Boukouras, appeared before magistrates to answer charges of being part of a criminal organization.

The three lawmakers were given until December 7 to prepare their defenses.

Some 150 Golden Dawn supporters gathered outside the court to voice their support for the MPs.
