Public transport slows down for New Year’s holiday

The Athens metro, train, buses and trolley buses will be stopping service earlier than usual on New Year’s Eve in order to allow workers to clock off in time for the change of the year, the Athens Urban Transport Organization (OASA) said on Tuesday.

Bus and trolley bus drivers will begin winding down their shifts at 10 p.m. on Tuesday night, with services ending at 11 p.m.

The last trains of the ISAP electrical railway will be leaving Piraeus and Kifissia at 10.20 p.m..

On the Athens metro, the last service on Line 2 will depart from Anthoupoli and Elliniko at 10.40 p.m., while on Line 3 the last trains will be leaving Aghia Marina for Doukissis Plakentias station at 22.46 p.m. and for Athens International Airport at 9.26 p.m.

From Doukissis Plakentias to Aghia Marina, the last train will depart at 10.37 p.m. and to the airport at 10.03 p.m.

From New Year’s Day and through Monday, January 6, which is another public holiday, public transportation will be running on reduced weekend schedules.
