Dozens arrested at illegal casino in central Athens
In a large-scale operation on Sunday night, officers of the Greek Police’s internal affairs division made 105 arrests at an illegal casino operating in central Athens, though they were unable to find any evidence that members of the force were involved in the racket.
Officers raided the Tritis Septemvriou Street premises, which occupied three floors of a building and appeared at first sight to be operating as a cafe. They arrested 16 people believed to work in the business and 89 punters. They also confiscated 38 computers used for illegal gaming, 27 slot machines, seven electronic roulette consoles and six card tables.
Investigators also found large quantities of bootleg liquor and an unspecified amount of cash.
