Independent Greeks MP could be ousted from party
Outspoken Independent Greeks MP Rachil Makri is to face the party’s ethics committee, with the possibility that she may be ousted from the anti-austerity group, after making disparaging comments about colleagues on her Facebook page.
Independent Greeks leader Panos Kammenos deferred any decision on Makri’s future to the committee.
The MP has been at odds with Kammenos for several months and was on the brink of quitting the party at the end of last year.
She indicated on Friday that she might continue as an independent lawmaker.
“I pledge that I will keep trying to express my political beliefs and opinions publicly,” she said.
“I have never hidden anything from the citizens who honored me [with their votes].”
