London court to hear Greek request for ex-judge’s extradition
A London court is on November 21 to hear Greece’s request to have fugitive former judge Antonia Ilia extradited to Athens on trial-fixing charges.
Ilia’s hearing has been put off several times already but her lawyers had pressed for a further postponement to allow a Greek academic specializing in human rights to brief the London court on substandard conditions in Greece’s jails.
Ilia was found guilty in 2010 of being part of a trial-fixing ring in Greece and sentenced to almost seven years in prison.
She has been at large since 2005 when the racket was broken.
