Pipeline to carry water to Aegina gets go-ahead

The Attica Regional Authority gave the green light on Friday, following a meeting of its council, for a 32.5-million-euro project to build a water pipeline from the mainland to the island of Aegina.

The pipeline, to be laid at a depth of 95 meters, will be 14 kilometers long and will supply up to 30,000 cubic meters of water per day to the island’s residents.

Up until now, Aegina had relied on water being shipped to the island.
