Ex-finance minister’s trial ends, verdict due on Tuesday
The special court hearing the trial of former Finance Minister Giorgos Papaconstantinou is on Tuesday due to deliver its verdict on whether the ex-PASOK politician was responsible for doctoring the Lagarde list of Greeks with deposits in Switzerland.
The trial finished on Thursday with summing up from one of the ex-minister’s lawyers, Vassilis Dimakopoulos. He insisted Papaconstantinou did not remove the names of three relatives from the list handed over by French authorities in 2010 and that the charges against the former finance chief could not stand due to the statute of limitations. Papaconstantinou says he did not doctor the list and that he is being used as a scapegoat.
