Witnesses at bailout probe to be finalized Tuesday

The list of witnesses who will be called to testify before the parliamentary committee set up to examine the circumstances under which Greece agreed to bailouts with the European Union and the International Monetary Fund will be finalized on Tuesday.

Most of the witnesses are expected to be individuals who held office between October 2009 and January 2015.

At the commitee’s first meeting on Thursday, it was decided that it will convene twice a week. An emergency third meeting will only be held if deemed necessary. Its members, most of them SYRIZA and Independent Greek MPs, are expected to participate without a fee.

SYRIZA MP Costas Lapavitsas on Friday endorsed a proposal by former PASOK minister Andreas Loverdos that the committee should also investigate decisions made by the current, leftist-led coalition.

The committee is expected to deliver its findings in October.
