Two firemen injured in blaze near Patra

Two firefighters were injured on Monday while trying to tackle a blaze in Ano Sichaina, near Patra.

The two men became trapped with their fire engine during the effort to put out the blaze.

The vehicle was destroyed by the fire, which was just 2 kilometers from the port city.

One of the firefighters suffered first-degree burns and was discharged after receiving treatment at the hospital but the other suffered damage to his eyes and was taken to the local university hospital to be examined by a specialist.

More than 20 fire engines, 60 firefighters, four water-bombing airplanes and a helicopter were involved in the effort to put out the blaze.
