Six suspects indicted over Carouzos property scandal
Six suspects were indicted Thursday to stand trial over a real estate scandal involving clothing manufacturer Yiannis Carouzos.
Other than the entrepreneur himself – who is currently in custody – his former wife and another four defendants will take the stand over charges that they helped Carouzos launder undeclared assets via a real estate scheme based on mortgage loans.
Thursday’s ruling also cleared the committees and boards of the banks that issued the loans of any wrongdoing, as well as dropping charges of running a criminal organization against Carouzos’s wife, Reveka Skaftoura, and her mother.
