Primary health system set for new approach
The Health Ministry is working on a new draft law regarding a overhaul of the country’s primary healthcare system. The proposed legislation is expected to be tabled in Parliament in June.
According to reports, the new bill’s core concept is a decentralized healthcare system based on family doctors and teams of health specialists who will offer a holistic approach. A pilot program is expected to start operating in Athens, Thessaloniki, Patra and Iraklio, Crete.
Stamatis Vardaros, who was recently appointed alternate general secretary at the ministry, will be supervising the planned reforms.
