Thanopoulos named new ELSTAT chief
Following a recommendation by an international committee of experts, Athanasios Thanopoulos was named Monday as the new head of the Hellenic Statistical Authority (ELSTAT).
Thanopoulos had previously served on Greece’s Council of Economic Advisers (SOE) and represented the country at a number of European Union-level bodies, including the EFC Subcommittee on Statistics. He has taught statistics at universities in Greece and abroad. He replaces outgoing chief Andreas Georgiou.
