Firefighters battle blaze on forestland near Patra

Firefighters were on Tuesday trying to contain a forest blaze that broke out on Monday night near the mountain village of Vounteni, close to the western port of Patra.
A team of 15 firemen manning 15 engines were attempting to douse the blaze and keep it away from residential areas.
Strong winds in the area buffeted the flames and hampered the firefighting effort.
Meanwhile a large blaze on Chios was brought under control but not before wreaking widespread damage to the island's mastic trees.
